In a snowstorm, the Kingdom crossed that border knowing the damage the Whisperers can do and possibly putting the Hilltop in danger. For this, they set up the border wall, with the heads on pikes. Rather than avoid the Whisperers, the Kingdom hired the Highwaymen to keep the roads clean, once again showing no respect to Alpha or her territory. Henry’s actions followed by an assault on the Whisperers camp left Alpha with no other choice but to take action against them and let people know her people are out there. Alpha gave back two individuals for Lydia in a trade at the Hilltop but that still wasn’t good enough. Even then, they had no intention of letting her go. Their intention wasn’t even to help her when they took her, but to interrogate her for information. Killing Lydia in cold blood would have been harsh, but that didn’t stop the group from letting the other Whisperers die. Still, they fought back against the undead during their rescue efforts for Eugene which resulted in the death of Jesus. You’ve been warned! The group was told they weren’t welcome in that area.Here are some examples of things that led to death or conflict between the groups which could have been easily avoided: So far, a lot of the conflict that has happened between our favorite characters on the show and the Whisperers has occurred because of something the group directly did to Alpha’s people that they shouldn’t have. Actually, what the Whisperers really is quite simple: To be left alone. And, unlike Terminus, they don’t want to eat the survivors. Unlike the Governor, Alpha doesn’t want control of a settlement. Unlike the Saviors, they don’t want half of everyone’s stuff. The Whisperers are an interesting group on The Walking Dead.
